biographical information



Peter J. Schakel is the Peter C. and Emajean Cook Professor of English at Hope College. He has authored, co-authored, or co-edited several books, including: The Poetry of Jonathan Swift: Allusion and the Development of a Poetic Style (University of Wisconsin Press, 1978); Approaching Poetry: Perspectives and Responses (St. Martin's Press, 1997); and Approaching Literature in the 21st Century: Fiction, Poetry, Drama (Bedford/St. Martin's, 2005). He earned his PhD from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, his MA from Southern Illinois University, and his BA from Central College. Peter J.
